Ice Storm

The ice storm brought some excitment! First, church is canceled, then I didn't have to go to work Monday, Leo did though! It took him over an hour to get enough ice off the car so he could drive to work. The ice scraper was stuck inside the trunk and he couldn't get to it! Then we lost our electricity early Monday morning. Mom picked me up to go to her house. Pops had the day off and called to inform her that they were losing trees. Look atthe tree standing behind mom in the top picture. While inside the house we heard a crash and went outside to investigate, now look atthe next picture, that tree that is in splinters was standing in the top picture. So sad. Mom lost all three of her pear trees. They were my favorite trees.
Mom lost her electricity while Richard, Kim (Richards girlfriend), Brandon, mom, pops, and I were outside pulling the trees to the curb. Leo and I stayed the night there anyway. The next day mom got their electricity and we still didn't. So we stayed again there. And it was there that I saw something that I have never ever seen before. Leo was reading a book. No, it wasn't scriptures, I've seen him do that before. It wasn't a novel, but it was a book. It was the Mormon bathroom Reader. I had to capture it on film and share it with the rest of the world. Amazing! I was off work Mon-Wed because our office still didn't have power. Yeah, I was sad.
We finally got our power back Wednesday afternoon. YEA! But sadly, so did the office. It was back to work today. I hope that we don't get too much snow on Friday...it isn't close enough to a work day....

Church canceled and Soccer party

Today church was canceled because of the weather. Leo and I got to stay home all day, which never ever happens. We watched movies and took naps and played on the computer all day. It was so much fun! We received 5 phone calls telling us church was canceled It was cool, personally I think that they just wanted to talk to us because we are so much fun. Too bad we didn't have any hot chocolate.

Our soccer game was at 4 yesterday, and I was so lost because Leo is usually there to shout out instructions while I am on the field. Leo had to work and didn't get there until there was only 10 min left in the game, so obviously he didn't play. I was happy to have my personal coach back. :) After the game the Gomez's hosted a party for the soccer team and their families. There was so many kids running around and everyone is so great. Last night at the party I was reminded about all the blessings that I have been given because of my membership in the church. I would have never met Leo, be playing soccer, and I would have never met the awesome people that I get to associate with on a regular basis.

Here is the only picture that I know of that has about half the team in it. The girl on the left end and the short guy in the right end aren't on the team. This was taken almost a year ago. We're missing several people here. This might've been my first game ever.

Christmas

Christmas time is supposed to be a time to remember the birth and life of our Savior. I have a hard time remembering that. The older I get the more I feel that I am supposed to buy gifts for everyone, but the older I get, the more my family grows. It gets stressful. Leo thinks that we are all nuts buying gifts and more gifts. He didn't grow up like that. I guess you could say that he a more humble approach to Christmas. I am thankful for him and that he reminds me of what this season really is all about. Remembering the wonderful gift of the Savior and His sacrafice.
Last night I was flipping channels and found the Charlie Brown Christmas special. I almost feel like all of the little peanuts characters. I feel like Lucy trying to tell Leo what I want for Christmas and he isn't listening. I feel like Charlie, trying to remember what Christmas is all about and to focus on what is important. And I can't help but wish that I was more like Linus, bringing everyone together with the understanding of what Christmas is all about.
After the show I decided to finally get out the Christmas decorations and start putting them up. Kristal asked me where my Christmas spirit was because I didn't put up our 6 foot tree and opted instead to put up a little fiber optic 3 footer. The thought of detangling the lights and wrapping them around the tree and having to put it all up was depressing. I love our little 3 footer. Complete with lights, all Leo and I had to do was pull out our light weight ornaments and put them on the tree. We put out the nativities, but without the little baby Jesus until Christmas Eve. I love Christmas and I wish that December could last longer.

Newbie

Ok, so when Leo and I were visiting the family in Texas over Thanksgiving Philip asked when I was going to get on the ball and create a family blog. So this is my attempt to do so. If I do something wrong, or do something weird let me know. I can take it. :)

Now to figure out how to post some pictures...
This is from our trip to Peru. We just finished doing a session at the Lima Temple.
